TexFlex Flexible Accounts

What is TexFlex?

TexFlex is a Flexible Spending Account that lets you pay for planned out-of-pocket health and dependent day care expenses tax-free. It’s the best way to help you budget health and day care expenses. You can choose between a health care account or day care account, or use both. You don’t have to be enrolled in GBP health coverage to use this benefit.

The Day Care Account is for child care or elder day care expenses, not for the medical care of your dependents.

Pay for planned out-of-pocket health expenses tax-free, increasing your take-home pay.

TexFlex accounts are generally for the full academic year and can not be changed; however, changes may be made if the employee has a Qualifying Life Event (QLE) such as birth, death or marriage.  Special situations also can affect your TexFlex account.  The day care account is suspended during approved leave of absence and no claims will be paid, but, resumes upon return to work.  Employees on approve Family Medical Leave and in a leave without pay status also have options to continue or stop the health care account.
